NURSE AIDE


You can become a Nurse Aide in just 4 weeks! The Nurse Aide training program is a 140-hour certificate program and is approved by the Virginia Board of Nursing. The Nurse Aide student will learn how to help patients by performing basic day-to-day tasks for them. Classroom instruction topics include an introduction to healthcare, basic nurse aide skills (taking vital signs, temperature, respirations, blood pressure, bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, mobility assistance and emotional support). Also, the student will learn about documenting and reporting, body structure and function, infection control, safety, etc. This field of work can be a stepping-stone for advanced nursing or other healthcare occupations. This program provides you with the knowledge needed to work competently as a Nurse Aide in general, plus the added knowledge of geriatrics specifically.

WHAT DOES A NURSE AIDE DO?

The nurse aide provides personal care including feeding, ambulating, and assisting patients with personal hygiene. Nurse Aides are important healthcare providers who assist patients with activities of daily living. The nurse aide works under the supervision of a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse.
 

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid Identification (passport, driver’s license, state ID)
  • Social Security card
  • Criminal Background check (provided by school)
  • Test (PPD skin test or chest X-ray no older than a year) School will administer the PPD skin test for a fee.
  • 2 Covid Vaccines (Moderna or Pfizer) or 1 Covid Vaccine (Johnson+Johnson)

HOW DO I BECOME A CERTIFIED NURSE AIDE (CNA)

Becoming a Certified Nurse Aide is a 2 Step process:

STEP 1 Complete a Virginia Board of Nursing approved 140 hour Nurse Aide training program.
STEP 2 Take the Virginia Board of Nursing Nurse Aide Certification Exam ($140).


JOB OUTLOOK

According to www.collegeboard.com, government economists anticipate the job growth for nursing aides will increase faster than the average for all careers. This prediction is a result of the ever increasing population of elderly due to aging baby boomers and their need for healthcare.

This program provides you with the knowledge needed to work competently as a Nurse Aide (NA). It will entitle you to work for any facility that employs nurse aides (i.e., hospitals, nursing homes, private duty, and home health care).

STATE CERTIFICATION 

We are an official test site for the Virginia Board of Nursing Nurse Aide Certification Exam. This exam can be taken at Fast Track Health Care Education.

State of Virginia Board of Nursing - Nurse Aide Certification Exam, for an additional fee of $140.
